Classroom Management and Atmosphere

2. Classroom Management and Atmosphere

My pupils were working in groups,
I have a clearly snapshot in my mind. My pupils were working in groups for developing an activity. They were learning the five senses and were jumping and having fun. All my pupils had a good rapport between them and with their teacher; when I started to give them classes, they respect me but at the same time they tried to include me in their activities, games and other things. The classroom atmosphere was so funny because my pupils like to participate in the activities; even though they did not understand what was the activity about, and also they wanted to participate in all of the activities although they had already participated. They had energy for everything, so I could not rest for one second because they wanted to play whatever, whenever and wherever. However, I was happy to be there.I can say that I have a good opportunity in my teaching practicum for growing as a professional person.

I think it is important to adapt our teaching style to our students (if we have it because it can be difficult to define with one), because with it they can learn little but maybe they'll do it effectively. The difficult question here is how can we achieve this? we can achieve it in many ways, as this will depend on the abilities of our students, their attitudes, the classroom atmosphere and other things. Speaking about abilities, I mean if you can not (or do not like publicly) sing or dance, you should do it because you have to focus on the needs of your students; and this are the kind of things they enjoy doing more. In addition, another area is the rapport with children; if students get along, they will be able to work in pairs or groups; besides to do activities where all participate without fighting, but if they are jealous or selfish and do not like to share, you can not get it does not make them work in a harmonious way. In my case, all my pupils had a good rapport because they liked to participate, they did not look at the person they work with, they just wanted to have fun.

My short term goals as an ELT practitioner
1. To gain more confidence when I´m speaking in English. This experience has helped me to not be afraid and to know that sometimes it is good to be wrong because it is the best way to learn.
2. Try to be more patient because I used to get frustrated when something does not work the way I want, but my students taught not to give up the first time. They usually did not what to do but anyways they do the best.
3. To enrich my vocabulary, as sometimes in my teaching practicum too basic words escaped from my mind and it was shameful.
My long term goals as ELT practitioner
1. To get making an interesting class where my students do not get bored, which one can be achieved because I learned many techniques and methods this cycle, and I am still missing two cycles for learning more  in this area.
2. To become a good teacher, one that is fun but also one that my students will have confidence and to share beautiful moments with me. I do not want to be one who arrives and start to explain. I would like to know something about the subject, methodology and about rapport with others. I want to be an  Enabler Teacher.
