Class management and atmosphere

Class management and atmosphere

Teaching young learners has been one of the most beautiful experiences I have had in all my life. They have motivated me to do my best every day and every class. Also they have showed me that they love sincerity.

I remember my first class. I was so nervous at the beginning, but then it became easier and easier until now. I knew how to teach because I had been watching some classes before starting my teaching practicum.

I think one of the abilities I can apply with young learners is that I can teach them respectfully, show them I love them, and make my classes very funny for them to enjoy them. Sometimes, we get in troubles because of many things from children, but we have to learn how to deal with them in different ways. Also we have to make them enjoy every second of our class and learn all the possible things we teach them in each class.
The rapport with my little student has been very good. We know that children are very dynamic and they want to do lots of things at the same time. We have tried to show respect one another. It has been a little bit easy for me because they obey to what I tell them.

The atmosphere has been very nice. We have learned how to deal with one another, and it has functioned a lot because now they like to work with all their classmates. At the beginning, they were not accustomed to working in groups. It was very difficult to learn how to do it because they did not like it. They told that they prefer to work alone than in groups. Now everybody is used to working in groups because we played some games that required group work, and because of it they learn it.
The most difficult thing for me was to try to be patient. At the beginning, they did not obey anything I told them. It was very desperate for me, but then it was becoming easier and easier in each class. Now I can say that I have learned to be patient.
My short-term goals as an ELT practitioner are:

  • To improve my skills generally

  • To learn more and more every day

  • To continue practicing every day to improve the way I teach

My long-term goals as an ELT practitioner are:
  • To become a excellent English teacher
  • To deal with different kind of people who I have to teach
